As Hillary Clinton ascends, sexism gets uglier in the U.S.

And this in the U.S., the beacon of freedom, human rights, democracy, and all! Isn’t it ironic that Hillary Clinton’s China speech “Women’s rights are human rights” is a far cry from reality in her own country? Race and gender — these seem to be the last few battles to be won in this country. President Obama and Donald Trump, in their own divergent ways, exposed the underbelly of persistent, ugly, and intractable racism in the U.S. Mrs. Hillary Clinton’s run for the White House is doing the same in the area of sexism and gender inequity.

The stark contrast between a highly qualified candidate like Hillary Clinton and a Make-it-up-as-you-go candidate like Trump couldn’t be more unnerving and frustrating. The rest of the world is dumbfounded as they watch the regression of long held values of exceptionalism give way to a nauseating level of reality T.V. theatrics . . . just because a capable woman is about to take the reins of presidential power.

Time has proven that some sections of the U.S. population (aka Conservatives, Alt Right) were obviously not prepared for an African American president. What wasn’t thrown at Obama? Yet, after two terms of a very successful presidency, Obama’s legacy continues to be challenged and countered by deep denial that chokes life out of his naysayers. Now it’s the woman’s ascendancy to the presidency and the sexist deniers will be proven wrong this time around. White male patriarchy is breathing its last breath.
