Where marketing is heading?

Every day, the technology is more advanced than ever. Every time, having more access to information quicker and faster. It is almost now inevitable to not have technology to access information near us. Recently, Apple launched their Apple Watch, which means, that the access to information will be in our wrist.
Before, having access to information about something, like news, weather or other topics was a little harder than just notifications on your devices. So, having more access to technology and information means also more entertainment and media. This does not mean a simple phone recorded video, or a simple photo uploaded by a person or a company. This means that we have in our hands a huge platform of entertainment were we can create meaningful content, engage with our customer, reach them and even interact with them. Creating something much personal, quicker and easier than before.
Not too long ago, the way to spread news was by the traditional methods. The same methods were used for reaching a public for a product and all the logistics that involves in that action. In various articles, it is proven that in the US almost 90% of the population has a phone. This means that they are 24 hours next to a device that can be used to be informed of news, entertainment, consume advertisements and use digital products. That’s why “simple” applications can turn themselves into billion dollars companies in matters of days. People simply have the access to it, in their hands. Now, with just a simple notification, millions of people can now know what’s happening around the world. Marketing and publicity, should take this opportunity to create and find their clients, giving the technology(mobile) the same or more value, than the traditional publicity and marketing methods. A sample a of company that are generates millions in revenue is Buzzfeed. They are focused on creating content to be shared in social media and they receive a incredible amount of revenue based on the traffic created in by their content. Also, it sounds incredible, people that create videos for YouTube (Youtubers) are becoming the celebrities of today. For me, this is a great area where we can work and explore it’s potential and not underestimate its power.
