Congrats! Having worked as a developer for many years (and with no idea on how you get a mentor — where do you find them?) I can offer one piece of advice to anyone else in a similar position. I worked on a customer service application for many years. We always valued input from customer service reps who used our software every day. If you are a rep and are thinking about transitioning to an IT role, crack open a spreadsheet and start tracking any bugs, design issues, etc that you see (with as much detail as possible.) I think there is a definite career path, maybe via QA first, for someone who demonstrates an interest in, and drive to improve, their application. Best of luck with your new career!
