I think many women can relate to this experience. What is so powerful to me it how clearly this date rape WAS violent. It was sexual assault. So often it seems that date rape is considered less than what it is. Your story dispels that damaging myth. What can feel more shameful than to be raped and then told you consented? The scene with kissing your neck was equally terrible. That kind of thing is all too common on college campuses and again excused under the guise of drunken fun — somehow again brushed off as consensual. How frightening. Thanks for writing and posting.
