Loving A Human Porcupine
I dated a porcupine for several years. In other relationships, I have assumed the porcupine position.
Love involves a range of strong, positive, and arguably uncontrollable emotions. No two experiences of love are the same. No one loves two people exactly the same, because love is interactive.
We succumb to the power of love like an addiction, and research has defined it that way as well. We cannot resist love’s command any more than a junkie can resist their next fix. Some have lost fortunes, others have lost themselves in the name of love.
Research shows that uncertainty in love increases attachment. Perhaps attraction to uncertainty makes human porcupines attractive trophies in the pursuit of love. In my early twenties, I dated a porcupine for several years. In other relationships, I have assumed the porcupine position.
Understanding the Human Porcupine
Animal porcupines are admired from afar because their quills make touching them difficult. They are defensive in nature, not offensive. If threatened, they hiss and make their quills shake as a warning. To defend, they run backward to ram their quills into the predator.
