The Düsseldorf School of Photography (Photoschule) refers to a group of photographers who studied at the Kunstakademie Dusseldorf in the mid 1970s under the influential photographers Bernd and Hiller Becher.

The label Becherklasse or the Düsseldorfer Schule stands, also concerning the next generation of class members, for an objectifying photographic perspective from a certain distance, which clearly differs from the journalistic or freer visual language documentary practices of other German photographers. In the 1990s, the Düsseldorf School was regarded externally as a synonym for German photography as such, in the continuity of the New Objectivity (New Vision). [ Uta Grosenick/Thomas Seelig]
