Rosetta Roastery needs more hands on deck.

We are looking to hire inspired individuals to build on the foundations that exist here at Rosetta Roastery. Are you passionate about people, coffee and the thought of creating something beautiful? Then come and join us!

If this doesn’t look like a wild party to you, then you may not be the right person for the job.

Rosetta Roastery needs help.

If we are to continue to give our growing pool of customers the coffee experience that they deserve, then our family needs to grow, too.

Now common sense would say that many hands make light work, but lately we have been asking ourselves: What sort of hands do we want working on this team? More importantly, what sort of minds do we want driving those hands?

The world doesn’t need another barman.

While the position of “barista” has existed for about a century, it has never been a highly complicated job, and has seldom embodied more than being able to press buttons and talk and the same time.

It has been our assertion that it is no longer enough simply to be a barman…Serving coffee is no longer a stopgap job; it is a career.

In contrast, the concept of “specialty coffee” has only really been in the mind of the consumer for the past 40 years. But the consumer’s awareness of the beauty and complexity of the world of specialty coffee has grown so rapidly that the industry has found itself unable to keep pace with the demands brought on by this new wave of coffee revelation.

At Rosetta Roastery, we have made it our mission to pay the customer enough respect to deliver, not only a sensory journey, but also sufficient coffee knowledge to be able to add value to even the most studious of lay coffee lovers.

We are looking for teammates who can flick switches in people’s minds, rather than pressing buttons on simple machines.

This is partly why we have never wanted to hire “baristas”, as such. It has been our assertion that it is no longer enough simply to be a barman. We understand that this is, of course, exactly what the word meant when it was first transliterated from Italian, but that term is now woefully inadequate to describe the skills and knowledge required to perform what the job has become. The depth and breadth of the coffee industry has grown to the point where a coffee professional needs to skills that extend far beyond the two square metres behind an espresso machine. Serving coffee is no longer a stopgap job; it is a career.

Our belief is that, in order to present great coffee adequately, one must understand the fundamentals of roasting, extraction, cleanliness, customer interaction, bag packing, public speaking, floor mopping, organic chemistry, dishwashing, haiku, and origami. To quote Benedict Cumberbatch, “All is all”.

So what are the sorts of people that we are looking to join our team? Well, for starters, we are looking for people who share our faith in this assertion. Then, we looking for a team who can stare Nerdhood in the face and not flinch from it. We are looking for passionate book worms, who always strive to be the smartest folk in the room, but still have the nouse to keep that fact a secret. We are looking for teammates who can flick switches in people’s minds, rather than pressing buttons on simple machines. We want those who are broadminded enough to love coffee in all its diversity, but narrowly focussed in the pursuit of excellence.

Lastly, we want a family who loves the pursuit of knowledge only a tiny bit less than they love serving people.

Do you have what it takes to join our team? Why not send us your CV and find out.
