I like that you included de Botton. I quite enjoy his writing. You’re right in saying that it’s more pragmatic to simplify concepts to reach a wider audience. I suppose those who yearn for the complex would eventually reach for it anyway. This debate overshadows some of his concepts that he brings forward that would otherwise be inaccessible or Herculean for most readers.

I also enjoyed reading Go Suck A Lemon by Michael Cornwall – a very practical approach to improving emotional intelligence. Have you read it?
