Pingpad is the Social Productivity App to get things done, together. It combines messaging, notes and tasks, and let’s you move effortlessly across them in one app that works all your devices. With the latest update, you can manage your personal Todo list, and social tasks.

Tasks flow from Todo to Doing to Done

Pingpad 1.1.2 for iPhone and iPad and Android phone and tablet let’s you organize tasks for just yourself or with a private group.

Create a task

  1. Click the (+) button to create a new task
  2. Or take one of the Notes at the bottom and swipe left to turn it into a task

Get stuff done, together

Swipe left to change the status of a task from ToDo to Doing to Done.

Tap on a task to view and edit it like a Note. When viewing it, tap on the button at the top right to Assign the task to someone (including yourself).

Anyone in the group can change the status or assignment.

Coordinate while you Communicate and Collaborate

Tasks are a way to coordinate getting things done. Pingpad is the only app to combine coordination in the same app you communicate and collaborate in.

Before deciding who does what, start a conversation in Pings. Pings are messaging, photo sharing and all the activity in a group. Whenever someone is assigned a task, you get a push notification, and see in Pings. Talk about what needs to be get done by whom there. If a chat message is a good initial description of a thing to get done, long-press it to turn it into a Note.

Assign notes to people, track them as tasks from Todo to Doing to Done

Collaborative Notes are the core of Pingpad. Private notes in a group editable by members in real-time. Notes can also be linked together to organize information — like a wiki.

Collaboration in Notes is where you set goals and get work done. When one of these goals is the responsibility of a member, tap the top right icon to Assign it to someone. At any time you can grab a Note in the Tasks screen, and swipe it to be a Todo.

For a Task, besides the Who it is assigned to in what group, What is the status, edit the body to describe the task. Or better yet, because the task also works as a note you can get it done right there, like in the above example taking the class note you are assigned to.

My Tasks

Social Productivity combines Personal Productivity and Collaboration. Pingpad provides Drafts as a place to take private notes just for you, ready to share. Now in Drafts is private tasks that you can track from Todo to Doing to Done. Click the (+) to create a new private

Drafts now has a private Todo list; and Tasks which are assigned to you

Also at bottom center in the navigation is Tasks, where you will find all of the tasks assigned to you, across all groups you are a part of.

Best Practices

The structure for tasks in Pingpad comes from Kanban practices. Check out Jim Benson’s work on Personal Kanban for personal productivity. If you work on an agile team, you probably use a similar structure to Todo, Doing and Done for group productivity.

To make this work, remember two rules:

1. Visualize your work

2. Limit your work in progress

In Pingpad this means write down all personal tasks that need to get done in drafts, and assign them to others in groups to make them visible. When working through tasks, have as few of them in the Doing state at any one time as you can.
