I do not see what you see. Neither does my teenage daughter.
If you ask for my “heroes” it is not too hard for me at all to rattle off my heroes.
- Erin Pizzey
- Christopher Hitchens
- Conan The Barbarian
- Atticus Finch
- Karen Straughan
- My Aunty Sue
- My Cousin Justine
- My Uncle Dick
- My daughter
- Vito Corleone
- Shane Scofield
- Arya Stark
- Tyrion Lannister
- Bronn
So let’s roll the numbers.
8 males and 6 females
7 fiction characters of which 6 are male and 1 female
Of the 7 non-fictional 5 females and 2 males
Of the living 3 are female and 0 are male
The top place Erin Pizzey.
Now if I go to my daughter, she will rattle off both male and females. So what does your theory say of us? We are not hung up on identity politics though and unlike you, gender is a non-issue to us. I WOULD say that it is not an issue to any but the “Progressive” people. To those looking for gender disparity, they will always be able to create statistics to support their narratives. I think that the Progressives will look at what supports and reinforces their narrative and it becomes a circular proposition.
At the end of the day it would not matter at all if all of my role models were female or all of my role models were female nor if my top role model was male or female. I mean if my top role model was Christopher Hitchen instead of Erin Pizzey, would the skies open and rain of Hellfire by cast down on me?
None of that matters to those that do not chase identity politics with the zealousness of fundamentalist preachers and the interpretation of cloud watchers.
