So….just so I have this right….and jump in if I have this wrong.

90% of the surfers in the water are male and 10% are females. So the ACCURATE representation of ANY random surfer would be….male?

The person on the beach sunbaking whilst the (90%) surfers are surfing is likely to be….female? Hey, I reckon 10% may be male….Am I right?

So as far as accuracy it was a decent representation, right? Not (I understand) how you would prefer the world to wrap around your Feminist ideals. I mean, I am sure in your dreams, you would like an equal representation in the genders divided between sunbathing and surfing. But that is not accurate and not now, right?

So let’s move onto marketing. If the greatest audience to appeal to in surfwear is males and YOUNG males, then would it be best to illustrate the male pictured as adventurous and ultra-athletic for them to aspire to AND for the girls to be “fit” looking beach magnets? Of course it would. Again, it may not suit your Feminist ideals but it makes perfect sense.

Lastly, “but my objectification”? What about it? When was the last time you heard any Feminist complain about Media displaying beautiful picture perfect young female models that most women can not hope to match in physical looks? A few times a day? Okay. Fair. When was the last time you heard any Male complain about Media displaying handsome, muscular, six pack abs, tall, young male models that most men can not hope to match in physical looks? Not often? Never thought about this? Did not think it was an issue because no one makes a fuss about it?

This is a whine isn’t it?
