I think we have a concentration of ideas and talent in a few centers (Yale Law School, McKinsey, Silicon Valley) and having spent significant time inside and outside of those centers I can say the diversity of thought is bifurcated. ZIP code is more related to differential in wealth than city. I bet there are more people who grew up in Westchester County, NY that work at Google than who grew up in East Palo Alto.
