Important to note the role played here by the enforcement of a minimum wage. Without a minimum wage, people would continue to accept work if it was better than the alternative (albeit at a lower/less productive rate) whatever the wage rate. But if there is no minimum wage which allows people to live a life of basic means (a “livable wage”) any society with a sense of moral duty would be obliged to subsidize this work (through something like an Earned Income Tax Credit). A livable minimum wage is an important part of allowing Capitalism and Globalism to flourish.
