“One Thing to Rule Them All”
Routine is a very powerful thing. Whether it’s in our personal or working lives, it keeps us on track.
When you have a routine, you’ll know when you’ve missed something or when something is not done correctly.
Saturday was my second match as a referee and I have to say, it was less daunting. Why?
Well, mainly because I knew (to a certain extent) what to expect.
That made a huge difference as I could create a routine so it alleviated the nerves.
Despite the fact that my preconceived notion of what I was going to do pre-match didn’t quite happen, I still managed to get everything done smoothly.
It reduces the element the uncertainty…
This in turn reduces stress because ultimately, stress is based on a worst-case scenario prediction of the future.
Similarly with fitness coaching, I see new clients who have never used resistance training before, who are completely daunted by the prospect of it.
Rest assured, I start with small steps and the giant leaps only happen when they are comfortable with everything: this includes being more relaxed about the equipment, environment and even trusting me more!
I appreciate that taking a jump into the unknown is tough but equally it is rewarding. As I have found out recently too.
A great phrase that I keep referring to is “you can’t achieve different results from doing the same routine.”
^^^ That is dynamite.
By doing the same things, you’ll always get what you’ve been getting. In business, the same as in life it holds true (barring a strike of good fortune). Whether it’s a case of doing the same classes, same gym / cardio sessions or confining ourselves to what feels “comfortable”, it isn’t a challenge.
The body is a fantastic, yet complex mechanism that adapts quickly to new stimulus and soon recognises when we are doing the same thing.
Think about this, if the body didn’t adapt, we would always feel stiff after workouts. We aren’t talking about pain but a reassuring “my muscles have been tested” kind of sensation.
I’ve even started to get that more now. Despite running three marathons and endless training, doing 800m track-based sprint training has given me new muscle tightness.
(Anyway, the match on Saturday seemed to go alright. Couple of tough calls, probably more abuse than the last week but it’s certainly character building!) Also, I enjoyed it more.
Yes, I actually said “enjoyed”. That was probably one of the furthest things from my mind after the match last week!
That’s why enjoyment is vital to RYPT (although I’m not going to shout at you!) as you’ll get that excitement and thrill about training.
Once you have that, there’s genuinely no holding back how far you can go.
Much like another referee said to me after the match: “the first couple of weeks, your confidence will sky rocket.” He’s proving to be right as its helping me in my business life too.
Training with RYPT, you’ll experience a similar effect (even if it’s online training).
So sample the RYPT experience today and see how far you can go to feel healthier, more positive and HAPPIER!!
AIRR outdoor Bootcamp starts on Thursday this week – yet another way to sample RYPT for a fraction of the cost (details on the RYPT homepage).
