BUCKET LIST

I’ve played basketball with Jack weekly for over 10 years. He just hit a birthday milestone about 25 years ahead me, but don’t disrespect his game. Even at his age, he still competes with kids in their mid 20s. You can’t teach experience & passion.

Back on topic, kudos to him for this impressive age milestone…but, F*CK him, too! I hadn’t seen him at our Sunday hoops game for a few weeks and texted to ask where he’d been. His reply:

“Crossing something off the bucket list, J…back in a few weeks”

How cool.

He was visiting one of the places on earth I want to see most, Alaska.

Yes. That’s HIM on that dogsled. I didn’t download the photo from a free stock photo website. This 60-something year old is cruising on a dog sled in one of the most remote places on earth. No wonder he keeps up with twenty & thirty-somethings on the basketball court.

Although he said I’m too young, I ignored it because that text inspired me to start a bucket list of my own. You see, I’m addicted to everything Alaska…and if addiction is Alaska then the Discovery Network is my crack. Ultimate Survival. Deadliest Catch. Alaskan Bush People. Alaska: The Last Frontier. I can’t get enough. I’m not even close to being satisfied watching it on TV, though. It’s calling me. Eventually.

So it’s no surprise what’s #1 on the list I started today:

  • Visit Alaska (like a boss…just like Jack)

Update: 08/19/2016 — SEE the Milky Way the way it was intended:

  • Scuba Dive with Great Whites (in South Africa…in a strong cage, of course)
  • Visit The Great Wall of China
  • Go on Safari on Kenya
  • Travel to New Zealand
  • Work “remote” for a year (…or more)
  • Take some kind of flight on SpaceX
  • Visit South America — specifically “Tierra Del Fuego” & Brazil

In summary…

Don’t watch others have all the fun. It’s never too early to plan. What’s on your list? Feel free to let me know in the comments…
