NUESTRA SEÑORA DEL CARMEN

The NUESTRA SEÑORA DEL CARMEN also known as Our Lady of Mount Carmel is the title given to the Blessed Virgin Mary. Hermits living on Mount Carmel in the Holy land during the late 12th and early to mid 13 century were the first Carmelites were. They built in the midst of their hermitages a chapel, which they dedicated to the Blessed Virgin. This art piece was painted on panel using oil during the 18th century.

NUESTRA SEÑORA DEL PILAR DE ZARAGOZA by Mariano Asuncion Y Molo is also known as Our Lady of the Pillar. This is the name given to the Blessed Virgin Mary when she appeared to the Apostle James the Greater as he was praying by the banks of the Ebro at Zaragoza in connection to ancient Spanish tradition. Mary is usually depicted carrying as child on her arms resting above a pillar. Painted using oil on canvas during the mid to late 19th century.

The Veneration of the relics of martyrs and saints began from SAN POLICARPIO, OBISPO Y MARTIR. He is one of the early church fathers and secondary patron of the Archdiocese of Manila. Painted using oil on linen during the mid 19th century.

LA SANTISIMA TRINIDAD also known as the Holy Trinity shows 3 Gods which represents the Father, Son and Holy Spirit but all have one face which signify that God is all three of them yet we only have one God. This artwork was made during the late 18th to early 19th century. It is an oil painting on panel.

LA CORONACION DE LA VIRGEN by Isidro Arceo also known as The Coronation of the Virgin. The painting shows the crowning of the Blessed Virgin Mary. This artwork was made during the 19th century and is painted with oil on canvas.

LA INMACULADA CONCEPCION also known as the Immaculate Conception is the conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary free from original sin by virtue of the foreseen merits of her son Jesus Christ. This painting was made during the 19th century made in oil on canvas.

NUESTRA SEÑORA DE LA CORREA

NUESTRA SEÑORA DE LA CORREA also known as Our Lady of Consolation and Cincture is the title given to the Blessed Virgin Mary that sprung from three different sources. First, the founding of the Order of St. Augustine in the 16th century, the building of the San Agustin Church in Intramuros, Manila and the establishment of Filipino confraternities under the advocacy of St. Augustine. People started devoting themselves to her when St. Monica in a vision received a black leather belt from the Blessed Virgin. The Blessed Virgin assured the St. Monica that she would protect all those who wore it in her honor. In return, Monica gave it to her son, Augustine who later changed his ways and eventually became one of the saints in the Roman Catholic Church. Painted using oil on canvas during the late 19th century.

The Stations of the Cross or the Way of the Cross, also known as Way of Sorrows or Via Crucis, refers to a series of images depicting Jesus Christ on the day of his crucifixion and accompanying prayers. The object of the stations is to help the Christians faithful to make a spiritual pilgrimage through contemplation of the Passion of Christ. In the National Museum of Fine Arts they show a gallery of painting depicting the Stations of the Cross at La Purisima Concepcion Church. Three of the paintings there are VI. VERONICA WIPES THE FACE OF JESUS, IX. JESUS FALLS THE THIRD TIME and XIII. Jesus is taken down from the cross. In the VI painting it shows Jesus’ suffering while carrying his cross and through this, Veronica is by his side wiping his face. In the IX painting shows Jesus falling for the third time yet the people around Him continue to torture him to get up and finish carrying his cross before they crucify him on it. In the XIII painting they the artist shows Jesus taken down from the cross and Mary holding him in her arms. In this image, Mary shows her great devotion to her yes to love to God. These artworks were painted using oil on canvas during the 1830s.
