The story unfolds within the walls of the iconic Edifício Planalto, a creation of the renowned architect Artacho Jurado, located in the heart of São Paulo. This narrative delves into the lives of artists who have made this historical building their home. They share their perspectives on art, reflecting on their unique connection with the bustling city center. Moreover, they explore the architectural legacy of Artacho Jurado, which has been a subject of controversy and intrigue. The feature film also includes a special appearance by the band Mulamba. Directed by Roviglio Cordenonsi, brazilian filmmaker living in Madrid, Spain.

Among the interviewed artists are:

Hugo Travers — Ballet Dancer

Hugo Travers (Buenos Aires, Argentina, 1932 — São Paulo, Brazil, 2019). Dancer and ballet master for various international companies, including the National Ballet of Cuba, Stuttgart Ballet, Contemporary Ballet of the City of Buenos Aires, Grupo Corpo, Ballet of Theatro Municipal do Rio de Janeiro, and São Paulo City Ballet.

Fernanda Guedes — Illustrator and visual artist

Fernanda Guedes is a self-taught visual artist with a successful career in editorial, fashion, advertising, and street art. Her work has been published and exhibited in Brazil, the USA, England, Australia, and Japan. Her recent work is highly influenced by her spiritual awakening and the mystical symmetry of sacred geometry.

Daniel Korn- architect

Founded his architecture studio in 2019, after collaborating with offices such as Studio Módulo, MMBB, Apiácas, Gurgel D’Alfonso, and others. Before graduating from Escola da Cidade in 2017, spent a period at the Technical College in Cologne, Germany.

In addition to specializing in interior architecture and furniture design, he also work in scenography, graphic design, and urban interventions.

Daniel explains and contextualizes the architecture of Artacho Jurado.

Ekaterina Bernasovskaya

In the film, Ekaterina recounts her harrowing escape from the former Soviet Union to evade persecution by the communists, as her family faced grave danger. As a first soprano, she lends her voice to various choirs, including the Melodia Choir, the Russian Lyric Choir, the Volga Folklore Choir, and the OAB Choir.

Fernando Durão — Artista Visual

Painter, draftsman, illustrator, graphic designer, photographer, art critic, and photography critic.

Fernando Manuel da Costa Durão attended a pattern design course in 1966 and later, in 1968, a decorative painting course at the Soares dos Reis School in Porto, Portugal. He came to Brazil in 1970, settling in São Paulo from 1972 onwards. He studied machine drawing and interior decoration at the Pró-Tec School. In 1976, he directed the Século XXI Art Gallery. During the 1980s, he became a photography critic for Folha da Tarde, designed and managed the art galleries of Banco do Brasil, and released the print album “10 Contemporâneos” at the Chap Chap Cultural Space.

Veridiana Piovezan — Opera costume designer

Veridiana Piovezan is a costume designer and teacher whose studies in History, Costume, and Performing Arts were completed in Brazil and Italy. Her experience includes costume creation and production for opera, theater and cinema, as well as lectures in different notorious Fashion and Performing Arts schools in São Paulo, such as the SP School of Theater, SENAC, Panamericana — School of Art and Design, and at the School of Communications and Arts, part of the University of São Paulo, as a guest teacher.

Between 2013 and 2014, she was the costume producer for 14 opera productions in São Paulo’s Municipal Theater. Among her works she designed the costumes for Salome, chosen as the best opera in 2014 by an expert jury. In 2016, she was part of the costume production team for the opening and closing ceremonies of the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

Lucas Verzola — writer

Lucas Verzola was born in São Paulo in 1988. He is the author of “A última cabra” (Reformatório, 2019), “Em conflito com a lei” (Reformatório, 2016), which won the 2015 ProAc — Government of the State of São Paulo award in the category of literary creation (prose), and “São Paulo depois de horas” (Patuá, 2014), pre-selected for the 2014 SESC Literature Award in the short stories category.

He graduated in Law from USP, where he also studied History. He is a specialist in criminal law and criminal procedure, currently working as an advisor in the office of the Vice President of the Court of Justice of the State of São Paulo. Previously, he worked for Folha de S.Paulo and Publifolha, serving as a writer, reporter, and assistant editor.

Leona Jhovs — actress

The professional definition that Leona Jhovs attributes to herself couldn’t be better — a multi-(a)rtivist. After all, she is an actress, singer, screenwriter, director, presenter, and all these experiences revolve around her life as a transfeminist woman. She states, “I do whatever I want because I can be anything in life, except cis, and thank you for that!” In addition to all of this, she is a co-founder of Casa Chama, an organization designed and created by and for trans individuals.
