I would argue that “more risk” is not necessarily the case. If you accept that discrimination exists at all (I’ve definitely seen/experienced it) then the minority candidates you come across will likely be lower risk as they’ve had to work that much harder to be seen as equal.
And if the perceived risk comes from hiring people without experience in various frameworks, well, plenty of companies do that quite successfully. The main hurdle they face in diversity hires is that many women, for example, won’t even apply unless they have most/all of the skills listed in job postings, whereas men tend to be more comfortable with a ‘fake it until you make it’ attitude.
