5 questions that will help you avoid comparison and show up as yourself

When we are faced with a daunting situation, such as leading an important meeting with a large audience, or public speaking, it is easy to fall into the trap of comparing ourselves to others. Usually we perceive other people to be better than us. We tell ourselves we can’t possibly be as good as them. This way of thinking is never helpful; we need to focus instead on who we are, what we bring to the table and why we can be more self-confident. We also need to remember that vulnerable, authentic leadership is valuable!

Here are 5 questions to focus on when you find yourself making comparisons to others:

  1. What do I bring which is different?
  2. What are my strengths?
  3. What do I know to be true right now which will serve me?
  4. How do I want to show up at the meeting / event?
  5. How do I want to be when I don’t have the answer?

Let us know how you get on!
