Swimming the Closest Activity to Flying
Why do I get up before the sun rises? The trudge through my darkened neighborhood on my way to my local pool? To fly.
After months, since July of last year, I have walked my way to swim for about fifty minutes. I was rubbish to begin this new habit. Not that I am any great swimmer, I am confident in my skills which are becoming better. All through habit.
Today, as I swam with fins under the water. I felt that I was flying. Swimming for me is to connect with my body, the control of my breath and to feel the water move across my skin.
My habit has become ingrained. I am at the point I cannot comprehend a day where I am not swimming. I can add the many benefits that swimming brings. Which there are but, the bottom line is, if I am not swimming, I am not flying.
