Great article! In my country we go through many hurricanes and we don’t flee anywhere, even if we wanted to leave, the hurricanes always cover the whole island. We prepare ourselves instead. Every time I heard the media it felt they were trying to scare off the population instead of giving them honest advice on how to prepare their homes or what to do in case of a hurricane. It activated the fight or flight of many instead of using their rational thoughts. Not many people die from this kind disaster, and if they do, is because they were outside (like that surfer in the Bahamas). We have experienced a lot of hurricanes in the Caribbean on an island that is smaller than any state/city in the US so I guess because it is unfamiliar to most in the states, people are scared of what is unknown to them…
