Ever think Prop 13, which forces the state and all local CA governments to give exorbitant, growing, and unsustainable subsidies to landowners, might have something to do with it? It’s the land in PA that is priced somewhere out in interplanetary space, and the more landowning is subsidized, the more you have to pay to pocket the subsidy. Not rocket science. CA committed suicide when it passed Prop 13 in 1978, the worst public policy blunder committed by any US state since the Civil War.
