Capitalism perverts all enterprises eventually, making them go from delivering a great product or service to a focus on extracting the maximum revenue possible. This is a well-written article using Disney as an excellent example of that inevitable progression; Apple is another.

As for adults visiting a Disney theme park without irony; these are life’s goldfish and we can only admire their ability to suspend judgement (along with most other cognitive processes I suspect). Thinking adults can see through and be dismayed by the likes of plastic hippopotami surfacing in a sterile ‘lagoon’. Resistance is not futile but it’s damned hard work if you have kids.
