A Prologue —
Hello Readers,
In previous posts and comments, I have hinted at my intention to write on the subject of the IT Division of Labor and its associated Waste and Abuse. While I will not be using traditional FWA legal terminologies, I will be focusing on their common usage.
When I say the division of IT labor, I would like you to remember this legendary scene from Chaplin’s Modern Times. The only difference, this is happening to knowledge workers. I don't remember how many PowerPoint Slides and Visio diagrams I have cranked out in my long years as an EA. I can only laugh now at how I worked exactly like this.
The posts may not follow a linear sequence, and the end of the discussion may appear at the beginning. This is not a postmodern exercise, but rather my lack of writing experience.
Throughout this series, you will read personal and anecdotal stories that are not necessarily my own, but rather what I have conversed, heard, or read. I may also mix up my own stories and other’s stories to preserve anonymity. I would also review HBR articles that touch on issues that, imo come from the division of labor.
Please focus on the context rather than speculating on personalities.
I encourage you to join me in exploring this topic and engaging in candid open discussions. Watch out for the tag “Division Of Labor”
Thank you for reading.
Cheers,
RR
