Greetings fellow gamer, or game-curious folks!

This is another entry of a “game design diary”, focused on the creation of a kids-friendly RPG system, loosely inspired by D&D and other TTRPGs.
This time I’ll talk about the main thing everyone loves in fantasy: MAGIC!

The system so far (SKIP if you read the previous articles!)

Instead of copying Dungeons & Dragons (D&D), where players throw a 20-sided die, and then add bonuses from one ability score (plus tons of other possible sources) to see if they succeed in their actions, I went for a system where there are no fixed numerical bonuses. Instead, each ability gives a die, and actions involve two abilities, so two dice are rolled at once!

The coupling of abilities are for now called “Aspects”, but they are never used just by themselves, because…

In addition, we also have 4 “Spirit Animals” combining with the above, for a total of 12 Skills and 8 Traits…
