IIT JEE 2018 Eligibility, No. of Attempts, age & Qualification Criteria.
Well! Before planning to appear in JEE Exams, it’s very essential to check the eligibility criteria as many students skip this important step. All your doubts are going to be cleared now. Let’s check out one by one.
Ø Age limit to appear in IIT JEE Exam- Candidates must have been born on or after October 1, 1993.That means the age should not be above 25 Years for Unreserved and OBC candidates.
There is a relaxation of 5 Years for SC/ST and PWD candidates.
Note: The Date of Birth will be considered as mentioned in the Secondary Education Board/University Certificate.
Ø No of Attempts- A candidate can appear for JEE Main 3 times whereas the limit is 2 times for JEE Advanced Exam.
While candidates appearing from Nagaland, Madhya Pradesh and Odisha States are not considered for these criteria as, these states were added in JEE Main Exam in 2014.The no of attempts and age limit will be as per past practice.
Ø Qualifying Subjects- Candidates appearing in IIT JEE Exam must pass in at least 5 Subjects from recognized Board/University with Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics as compulsory and other vocational subjects.
Ø Passing Marks-There are no specific passing percentage criteria for candidates appearing in JEE Main Exam 2018.While, to appear in JEE Advanced, candidate must have scored aggregate 75 % in 12th for General and min 65 % for SC/ST, PWD candidates
Candidate could also be within top 20 percentile in their respective Reservation categories.
Ø Qualifying Exams- To be Eligible for JEE Exams a candidate should qualify in any of the following exams
ü Senior Secondary exam conducted by CBSE, ICSE, NIOS, state boards or any other recognized Intermediate Board.
ü Any public school, University or Board Examination in India or Foreign country that is recognized equivalent to Association of Indian Universities.
ü Candidate in Final Year of 2-year course of Joint Service Wing of National Defense Academy (NDA).
ü General Certificate Examination (London/Cambridge/ Sri Lanka) at the Advanced(A) Level.
ü Candidates whose admission was cancelled by IITs or ISM is not eligible to appear in the exam.
ü High-school Certificate Examination of the Cambridge University or International Baccalaureate Diploma of International Baccalaureate Office, Geneva could appear in the JEE Examination
