THE RENO WIND SYMPHONY RECENTLY CELEBRATED ITS TENTH ANNIVERSARY. IT IS A COMMUNITY BAND, AND ALL OF THE MEMBERS VOLUNTEER THEIR TIME. THE BAND WAS STARTED IN 2006 BY DOCTOR “MACK” MCGRANNAHAN. MANY OF THE BAND MEMBERS ARE FORMER UNIVERSITY OF NEVADA, RENO, MUSIC STUDENTS. MANY OF THE BAND MEMBERS ARE MUSIC EDUCATORS, BUT MEMBERS RANGE FROM NURSES TO A NEVADA HIGHWAY PATROL TROOPER.
THE BAND PUTS ON ABOUT SIX CONCERTS A YEAR. THEY RANGE FROM DIFFERENT HOLIDAY CONCERTS TO SPRING CONCERTS WHICH ALL HAVE DIFFERENT THEMES.
