SF native(ish) here. Brian, first of all, thank you for helping bring a professional soccer team to San Francisco. And thank you for putting this blog post together to galvanize all of us who are rooting for a strong, hometown professional soccer team to support. Here’s hoping MLS finally incorporates promotion / relegation and that the Deltas will soon be participating in the premier soccer competition in the U.S.
Here are a few suggestions / reasons as to why I haven’t attended a game yet:
1] Ticket price: I agree with Tina R, I believe halving the ticket price on the least desirable seats would definitely draw bigger crowds. I like the idea behind the different seating options (supporters’ bleachers, VIP tent, etc.) but I think the ticket pricing schema can use a little more financial analysis / forecasting to optimize the attendance / revenue targets.
2] Concessions: Correct me if I’m wrong, but I heard it was ~$8 for a canned 12 oz. Tecate. That in and of itself was enough to put me off from going to a game.
3] Community: I’m a huge Arsenal fan. How do we build a community of die-hard deltas fans? I don’t know, but I would love to help (feel free to reach out)!
