The opportunity for dialogue or education is often smoldered out by acquiescence. We want to affirm our confidence with head nods and “mhmms” but in reality we cannot expect to know everything about the world around us. Perhaps this is in part due to the realms of industry and of social media. Both are places where we attempt to market a personal brand that conveys inclusion and awareness on all present topics.

I appreciate that you call out the absence of disdain in the reaction to this simple phrase. We are frequently subdued by a mal-perception of the other. Our egos urge us to avoid awkward confrontation. But the notion you put forward is a concise but effective stop-gap to this social glitch.

*Side note, I really appreciate the “short” post because you still capture an concept and pose a solution, demonstrating that you’ve made an observation and critically considered it’s impact. Thank you Todd.
