Reflection and Experience in Singapore
First, allow me to say a “ Thank you “ to Kelly, Willie and James who had sponsored this trip. Many thanks to other friends in Singapore, Francis, Janice, Freddy, Chardy and Thye, who had given me such a happy time in while I was there. Thank you so much!
This is the first trip I came to another country to training. It make me feel excited in this time, and I’m sure I never forgot this ☺. The trip make me close to the trends of the comtemporary design.
Ignore the first day when I had a half day move from Viet Nam to Singapore and half day to become familiar with the work in Singapore, I had a little hopeful with event on the next day. Day 2, I went to the Design Session (first event). In there, I can admire the works of art to bring thoughts sasesonp place great message come from the lives of ordinary people, such as: Bubble childhood compositions, village… They look simple but they touch to heart of viewer who joined this event. I had a special time when I had access to 3D printed technology which is the rise of the world. The special thing in this event is I was hearing about the UX which is very importain for designer now. The presentation made me understand how to exploit and use the most thoroughly UX but could ensure the easthetics of the one designer.
The 2nd event which I participated in the Design Week, an exchange activities experience from all designer come from all the country in the world. This event was help by Singapore Government. I had met a lot of friends in here who come from diffirent country in the world, such as: Philippines, Myanmar, Indonesian, England, Indian, German… and especially I met a older Singapore woman who work in a food company. She asked me know and participate with other events or work shops and how I could go to this. I love and thanks her so much ❤. I really happy to meet new friends who you have more experience, and they’ll share their experience for me.
In two day of event, in addition to the exchange I also heard presentations from talented designer such as: Masaaki Kanai (MUJI CO., Ltd), Colin Sean, Hunn Wai, Donn Koh, Jame Hayon, Steven Lawler, Yah-Leng Yu, Arthur Chin, William Chan, Alvin Tan and Jacson Tan. And I learn one thing very important from them :” We don’t need a beautiful design, we just need a usefully design”. All product of them very nice with simple design, usefully but still luxury. I love them and I want to become like them. I know it’s along time to make me to become a person like them, but I thing I can do ☺
At 2 weeks in Singapore, I have some time to traning with Kelly, Chardy and Thype. We look back all design and ask lot of question for each design and know what had been archive and not archive in design. Learn how to balance between color, font size, overall harmony…. Learn how to detrermine who is the main user which we forcus and serve them.
I feel very fortunate that we are able to meet and discuss and exchange design with customer who has current design. It make me understand what customer want and I’ll make design better.
Ahhh… I forgot may feel with food in Singapore, before I come to Singapore I heard Singapore food so difficult to eat so I have something care. But I wrong >”<, I think they are very nice ^^ and I think the problem with me is Singapore food don’t have vegetable so much. And Singaporan very friendly, they allways smile with me ^^ they teach me a lot of things and Chinenes too he.he… so I love theme so much ❤. I think Singapore is a good place to work ❤
Two week in Singapore wasn’t along time and wasn’t short time too. It a good time enough to make me love the country and the person in here. And I hope I can back again in the next time to can learn a lot of thing about design, can meet a lot of people… I know it’ll difficult with me in the future, but I’ll try with all my best. Fighting, MIO!!!
Thank you so much.
