Circuit Python Day’19
Blinking the Blinka: The official circuit python mascot!
Hey there! I’m Blinka. I run the source code on Circuit Playground Express boards. On August 4, India Linux User Group-Delhi and Hardware Hacker’s Club-Delhi celebrated my day!
Approximately 40 people came to appreciate my educational purpose and blinked my LED’s. I felt very de-lighted! The event was held at Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women, Delhi with support from Adafruit and Github Education.
Getting started with Circuit Python
Circuit Python is essentially a community based, open source hardware project by Adafruit. It is Adafruit’s fork of Micro Python designed to simplify experimentation and education on low-cost micro controllers. It makes it easier than ever to start prototyping by requiring no upfront desktop software downloads. With Circuit Python, one can write clean and simple Python code to control hardware instead of having to use complex languages like C or C++ (what Arduino uses for programming).
It’s great for beginners!
The introductory session was taken by Ayan Pahwa and Katyal Sanshay. The basic installation and setup of Circuit Python in various machines was taken care of.
Hackathon using Circuit Playground Board
The members were curious to experiment with the boards and came up with super interesting project ideas:
- Laser Tag
- Sine Wave Visualizer
- FastTrack Fitband
- HID Attack Vector
After mutual voting, the winner teams were awarded with Circuit Python Development Boards and goodies! They will be able to further build their projects and increase their skills.
Show n Tell session | Cake cutting
The projects were also showcased and ideas discussed along with active demonstration. Everyone was thrilled to learn about so many cool implementations and hardware hacking possibilities!
The cake reminded us of the NeoPixels and was a sweet relief from a long day. Everyone posed with the standies and flashed their beautiful smiles to end this event!
Come, be awesome with us
