Hip Hop Motivational #25 (The Alignment of Word and Spirit)
“Miscommunication leads to complication” Lauryn Hill
It is known that miscommunication can have an impact on output. This is often discussed when looking at an organizational framework or any team dynamic. Miscommunication within organizations does have consequences, however, I would like to look at how we miscommunicate with ourselves. It is possible to tell yourself one thing but believe in something else. It is of great importance that your word and spirit be in alignment so that what you communicate to yourself is clear, thus what you create will not be contaminated. Our negative output is often tied to those moments in which we miscommunicate with ourselves. There are moments we just downright lie to ourselves. We at times live a lie because we become so good at blocking the internal dialogue that expresses the truth we are to live. We may project confidence, but internally insecurity courses through us. There are times we feign greatness, yet, we truly find ourselves mired in mediocrity because our actions are not matching our thoughts.
Before we can clearly communicate with others, we must first clearly communicate with ourselves. We cannot be a light to others when we are the ones dimming our own light. Be honest with yourself. Be willing to have the tough internal conversation that will bring the alignment within yourself that is needed. Part of what prolongs the miscommunication is the lack of communication. You will rarely find those that are intentional about communicating struggle with miscommunication. The more at bats you have with dialogue, the better the chance you have to get the communication right. In a world with so much noise and so many distractions, it becomes difficult to have quality alone time with our thoughts, but it is necessary. You must give space to your internal voice to receive the revelation that is needed for you to walk in clarity. There is such power in clarity. Having clear objectives is essential to anything we would like to accomplish. As I have mentioned many times previously, before there is the thing, there is the person. It is the person that gives life to the thing. Take the time to explore your thoughts and feelings and avoid lying to yourself. It is time for things to get simplified. You may have been living in a storm and now is the moment for you to live in blue skies. Clear the path for yourself by eliminating the confusion. Whisper the truth to yourself until it becomes a roar you can’t deny hearing. You owe yourself honesty and a clear message.
