Hey Tom, thanks a lot!

I think you can easily get as granular or as little granular as you’d want with this model, considering how cheap it is.

Myself, I typically get in “this smells like a spike” mode when:

(1) I hear “we know what the intended goal is on this piece of work, but we don’t know what actually needs to be done to get there”, even when I hear it from the little voice in my own head.
(2) Two team members disagree on how to do something, and can’t solve that disagreement on the spot in under 30-ish seconds.
(3) There’s overlap with another team’s ownership, therefore we’ll need to be more intentional about how we communicate across team, therefore the model will help with that.

Those things tend to happen decently often, but again, the model is cheap, and they’re all things where alignment is threatened.
