Have a clear goal so that you can visualize the fastest path of going from Point A to Point B and the necessary skill to take you there.

Let’s say that the reason your career has stalled is due to lack of recognition. Colleagues of yours that have made the same contribution as you are getting ahead because they have greater visibility.

You determine that to get from where you are now to where you want to be, you need your achievements to be seen by your superiors. The way to get there is by writing excellent memos after each project which outlines on a high level the situation, who was involved, and the results.
