Pain free Periods in 8 Steps! How To Never Feel Pain or Discomfort During Your Periods Again.
Dear Man, Don’t Skip. Help The Women In Your Life With This Piece.
If you ask most women, they’ll tell you the week they have their periods is their most dreaded week of the month. This is because they have very painful and uncomfortable periods, meanwhile it should not be so. Contrary to what you’ve been told, painful and uncomfortable periods are NOT a normal occurrence. I know this because I have painless periods with minimal discomfort.
Being a woman is not a punishment.
Sometime ago, I shared some tips with my friends who have uncomfortable periods (these are things I practice myself) and they’ve all told me that these tips helped them have less discomfort during their periods. Today I’m going to be sharing these tips with you, so you can have a better menstraul experience.
- Stay hydrated. I’m talking 1.5L of water atleast, unless you have a health condition requiring you to drink more or less. Drink a lot of water during your periods but also on a daily basis. This will prevent dehydration, tiredness and help with period cramps.
- Use organic pads. These pads are free from harmful substances and reduce the risk of getting irritations, allergies or breakouts caused by traditional pads. Some people say they help shorten periods but there’s no scientific evidence ( I believe they do shorten periods though). Longrich Pads, Always and genial day are examples of popular organic pads.
- Eat more fresh foods. I know you’re “craving” all those processed foods during your periods but please this time try and crave fruits and vegetables, these will actually help you feel better.
- Avoid coffee (or anything with caffeine) during your periods. They aggravate PMS and also cause period cramps.
- Light exercise like walking or yoga can provide pain relief. I know exercise is the last thing you’d want to do in this situation but it does help with the cramps and the overall feeling of fatigue.
- Use warm water to bath, drink or massage your stomach. This will help relax your abdominal muscles and ease your cramps. Warm bathed or showers are also very relaxing, I highly recommend.
- Drink ginger tea. I’ve never tried this one but many people have told me it helps them
- Sleep. Yes oh, sleep is an underrated tool that helps alleviate period discomfort.
If after doing all these, you still have long and painful periods, you should see your doctor. You might have an underlying condition that causes your period discomfort, especially if they’re unbearable. Don’t take the “that’s normal” narrative for an answer, unbearable period discomfort is not normal.
I repeat, being a woman is not a punishment!
