New Year’s Eve is two days away. I only have 48 hours to think about my New Year’s Resolutions. (And then a week or two to promptly forget about them!)

Luckily, I can just google top resolutions and go with the flow of the status quo. According to Statista.com, the top 5 resolutions for 2024 are 1. save more money, 2. exercise more, 3. spend more time with family and friends, 4. lose weight, and 5. reduce spending on living expenses.

Where’s my pen? I could just write these down and call it good. JK.

Does this list excite you? Does it invoke your imagination so that you can see all the possibilities before you this next year? Does this list promise to rock your world??

Nah, I didn’t think so. I wonder if this is why so many of us forget our resolutions. In fact, the “Forbes Health/One Poll survey found that the average resolution lasts just 3.74 months. Only 8% of respondents tend to stick with their goals for one month, while 22% last two months, 22% last three months and 13% last four months.”

Let’s say you’re one of the dedicated ones and you last 4 months. You’ve saved, skimped, dieted, and socialized your way through your resolutions for a third of the year. Now you have 8 months to put the weight back on, spend all you saved, and forget about all the friends and relatives that you don’t really want to spend time with anyway. Let’s face it, they’ve forgotten their resolutions too and the lot of you are unmotivated blobs by April Fool’s Day.
