You Are Not Equal. I’m Sorry.
Dina Leygerman

“You still don’t have full rights over your own body. Men are still debating over your uterus. Over your prenatal care. Over your choices.”

So are women. Congress does not consist solely of men, and both men and women have every right to petition their representatives to vote the way they want. Men don’t have this problem because of a fundamental difference in biology. Thats not sexism, its biology.

“You still have to carry mace when walking alone at night. You still have to prove to the court why you were drunk on the night you were raped. You still have to justify your behavior when a man forces himself on you.”

This is also the same for men. If you are worried about being attacked you need to carry mace. If you are in a situation where one party claims rape, there is a court case and both sides need to defend their position. Innocent until PROVEN guilty.

“You still don’t have paid (or even unpaid) maternity leave. You still have to go back to work while your body is broken. While you silently suffer from postpartum depression.”

Most companies do offer maternity leave to stay competitive. Just because its not a right does not mean it doesn’t exist. If we are talking about being equal here, men are less likely to be offered maternity leave than women.

“You still have to fight to breastfeed in public. You still have to prove to other women it’s your right to do so. You still offend others with your breasts.”

Again, this has nothing to do with equal rights. Women’s bare breasts are considered nudity in the US. Public nudity is an offense. It would be the opposite of equal if women were allowed to show themselves publicly while men can’t. Besides that, you DO have every right to breastfeed in public, as long as you are not displaying your bare breast to people. Its not difficult to breastfeed while your breasts are covered. This is a 100% equal law. ALL people, regardless of gender, can not show nudity in public. Even if this is an issue that only pertains to women (because of biology) it doesn’t make it an equal rights issue.

“You are still objectified. You are still catcalled. You are still sexualized. You are still told you’re too skinny or you’re too fat. You’re still told you’re too old or too young. You’re applauded when you “age gracefully.” You’re still told men age “better.” You’re still told to dress like a lady. You are still judged on your outfit instead of what’s in your head. What brand bag you have still matters more than your college degree.”

This is bulls**t. Just factually. The MAJORITY of men are not catcalling, calling people old, or telling women they age worse than men. Men face most of these problems as well. Men aren’t fat? They don’t feel bad about being fat? They don’t feel bad about aging and losing their attractive youthful appearance? They don’t dislike grey hair and balding? They don’t get criticized if they wear jeans and a t-shirt to the office? How far is your head up your a** that you think A SINGLE PERSON in the country cares more about your bag than your degree in a business setting? “Sure, you don’t have the education required for this position, but I will hire you because the qualified women had a bad taste in handbags” You are actually delusional if you even slightly believe that statement, you overgeneralizing, sensationalizing, idiot.

“You are still being abused by your husband, by your boyfriend. You’re still being murdered by your partners. Being beaten by your soulmate.”

Thats right, men are never killed by their wives or girlfriends. Most men are murderers and this isn’t a fringe group with a biological deformity that is more common in men. We should really petition evolution to make more women serial killers.

“You are still worse off if you are a woman of color, a gay woman, a transgender woman. You are still harassed, belittled, dehumanized.”

Again true for me. Gay and transgender people are actually facing unequal treatment. Its funny you would compare your non-problems to people who actually lack a right granted to everyone else (being married) in many states still.

“Your daughters are still told they are beautiful before they are told they are smart. Your daughters are still told to behave even though “boys will be boys.” Your daughters are still told boys pull hair or pinch them because they like them.”

It has been scientifically proven that girls are worse bullies than boys (to their own gender) and this is again not different for men. People comment on how cute your son is before they comment on how smart he is. Maybe its because outer beauty can be seem immediately and personality traits can only be seen by longer exposure to the individual.

The pay gap has been proven to be incorrectly defined statistical analysis and when jobs are compared at the same occupation with the same qualifications and experience the gap is non existent. If the gap did exist, why the hell would any company hire any men? Companies employ children in other countries and use sweat shops, but they are above hiring only women to save 20% on salaries? If you actually look at real studies and not statistical comparisons, you will see the wage gap disappear.
