Hope your week is off to a good start. Last week’s news cycle was typically depressing, so let me brighten your day…

First, two candidate stories to highlight for you:

Arkansas state house candidate Gayatri Agnew won a decision before the Arkansas Ethics Commission that she can use campaign funds to pay for childcare costs. (The FEC ruled in favor of this a few months back; FEC decisions don’t apply to state & local elections.) Slowly but surely, the structures of our institutions are changing to be more accommodating to folks beyond rich white men. (It’s worth reading this deep-dive into how moms are running for office.)

A candidate video to watch: Meet Kevin Windham Jr., who’s running for state representative in Missouri. He got involved after the protests in Ferguson. His story will give you hope.

We also love these two quick volunteer highlights…

Kelly O’Donnell started as a Run for Something volunteer. Now she’s the field director for Andrew Gournades, a state senate candidate in New York. This is not the first time a RFS volunteer has become a staffer for one of our candidates — building the bench of operatives is a low-key side effect of our work.

We love our volunteers — and we LOVE that our volunteers have a good experience with us. (You can volunteer! It’s really fun, inspiring, and on your schedule.)

And last but definitely not least: I am SO proud that Ross Morales Rocketto, my co-founder, was named a Campaigns & Elections 2018 Rising Star. Ross absolutely hates this kind of recognition — which is one of the many many reasons why he deserves it.

Thanks for everything you do to make this all possible. It’s just an utter delight.

Catch up on last week’s update!
