What jewels the garbage dump we have turned this world into still holds. But what a treasure hunt it used to be to discover the new and marvelous — now a treasure hunt for the not already unspoiled, the still fresh, the well-considered and the still innocent.

What a wonderful way to put it! And so true. I think, so long as we have a reason to keep going out for those treasure hunts, we will be fine. Obviously, one wishes that we didn’t have to scrounge through a garbage dump to get to the good stuff. But, as long as there is good stuff to be had, there is hope. And that usually is enough! :)
