Che Guevara’s son about Russian: “They can become the most terrible enemy”

The Great Comandante left the great historical, revolutionary legacy. He left the trace of a fighter, of an innovator, a socialist and a creator in world history. And only a few can remember him without a military uniform, with an ordinary smile on his face. As a father.
Ernesto Guevara is Che Guevara’s son. He lost his father when he was two, but the genes prevailed: in some sense he continued his father’s way. He also participated in the war and his life is inextricably bound up with motorcycles.
What are your impressions of Russia? How do you like it here?
Ernesto Guevara: Very good, it’s great here. We like your country, it’s very good here. Good people, they behaved towards us with great amiability.
What does Russia mean for you personally?
Ernesto Guevara: Russia is primarily a country friendly to Cuba. I’ve always really liked Russia. I spent part of my youth in Russia, because I graduated from law school in Moscow. Russia is part of my life, as for all Cubans, because Russia and Cuba have close relations.
Nothing has changed. Russians are always like brothers for Cubans.
What does Russia mean to you? Name three major associations with Russia.
Ernesto Guevara: Affectionate, friendly, and well educated.
You like motorcycles, don’t you? Have you ever ridden Russian motorcycles? The Ural, for example
Ernesto Guevara: Yes
How was it?
Ernesto Guevara: I was at the war in Angola in the late 80’s, when Cuba helped Angola to gain liberty. And I rode the Ural there.
I’ll ask a question about your father. If you were in his place, could you repeat his life and fate? Or you are a completely different person, aren’t you?
Ernesto Guevara: First of all, we are talking about two different time intervals. When I was born, the road was already opened. The revolution had already occurred, so it was no longer worth repeating. But when I became older, I had the opportunity and I went to Angola. I participated in the war in solidarity with the people of Angola for two years. Perhaps the conditions in my father’s time were different, he managed to achieve peace by himself, as well as all young Cubans belonging to his generation.
Typical Russian people — what are they?
Ernesto Guevara: They are good friends. They are law-abiding. But they can also become your the most terrible enemy.
