Native Apps are dying

If you were around on the early 90s you will realize that the mobile app space is looking exactly how the “digital magazine” space was just before people understood that doing just web would be so much better.

Nowadays there’s a number of content-based apps (I remember having installed an app on a conference just to look at the schedule), and an even bigger number of simple form submission apps that have no good reason to be anything more than a web app.

The main important difference is that when those apps are accessed through the web browser they are sandboxed in much more dramatic ways, therefore it is much more secure to use them, when you install a native app, the app can do a lot of things and you have very little opportunity to find out what it is or why.

After push notifications became possible to web apps on mobile, hopefully less and less people are going to go native just for the sake of it.
