Absolutely Amanda I agree. I had the same thought reading this. Factor in the tremendous effort it takes to raise a child, to get them to age 18 or 21, to sacrifice little treats for themselves in order to appease the little ones in their lives; sure parents are going to attempt to guide their young ones as they see fit. They’re not perfect but their guidance does count. Why do they care, they’re programmed to. Even the self-absorbed will end up in one way relationship of some kind at some point and then maybe begin to appreciate the value of reciprocity. Unfortunately at that point often it is too late for the elders to be around to receive that acknowledgement.
