While we can’t track all the relationships among a community of more than about 160 people, we can track our own relationship to about 10,000 people.

While both are small compared to 7 billion, Dunbar’s research is only about the former limitation, not the latter.

At the point that we have external memory for tracking reputation, than the 10,000 person limit isn’t really there either. Both the 160 & 10,000 are for using an unaided brain.
