The thought processes of these writers reminded me of a Theodore Roosevelt quote.
“The things that will destroy America are prosperity at any price, peace at any price, safety first instead of duty first, and love of soft living and the get-rich-quick theory of life.” — Theodore Roosevelt.
Feelings of humility surfaced as I learned writing is a craft, I need to write a lot, and stop expecting it to come easy. I am not ready to consider myself a writer, because the facts in evidence are insufficient to prove this point.
When one writer said he reached 1000 words a day for 600 days I was humbled. On too many occasions, I am trying to produce an incredible piece of writing, instead of realizing daily work produces incredible writing. I need to get to work instead of waiting for moments of epiphany or inspiration..
