I’m glad they changed from hearts to “claps” so that I could “clap” this multiple time. I would’ve respected the author’s viewpoint a little more had they phrased it to be a little more neutral, like “Are we raising our children to respect other children?”. I think children should be taught to respect ALL people, and at the same time, respect is a two way street, and is something that has to be earned and is not given by default. Treat others the way you want to be treated.

We shouldn’t be focusing on teaching boys to not hit girls, but rather we should be teaching boys and girls to not hit each other at all… I don’t understand why this is such a hard concept for everyone to stick to. Instead, it’s always a matter of who has the more difficult hardships in life, as if we’re all trying to one-up each other constantly and that’s just honestly stupid. That’s a fight that no one will ever win since most people only spend their lives in their own shoes. It’s turned into this self perpetuating cycle that we have today…
