Writer’s Angst!

It’s hard to take all your clothes off and stand naked in front of a bunch of strangers! And that is basically what you are (metaphorically) doing every time you hit “Publish.”

We want to reach a lot of people with our thoughts, but we kind-of would like to do it anonymously, or at least behind a curtain. Thoughts are the most personal and private thing we possess.

They are our children and we somehow hate to kick them out of the nest — to turn them loose in the world and expose them to the harsh realities which we know they will encounter. Will our readers be kind? Will they be compassionate? Will they even understand what we are trying to say?

Will they accept the implicit contract we broach when we publish? Or will they snub our overtures and ignore us? Or worse — ridicule us?

Fortunately we have a supportive and encouraging platform like Medium!
