Glad you spent time with all sorts of people. Your view is expansive, in one direction, but lacks historical depth. One hundred years is not a long time, nor is 70 — the number of yrs that Israel exists. Palestinian Arabs live in the Galilee as well as in Judea. Palestinian Jews live in this strip of land between the Mediterranean and the Jordan as well. Your smart, open review of how life is today is a huge eye-opener for many, one that I would hope comes along with a historic grain of salt too.

Israel is the one that needs a super hero. The Jews are the misplaced people just stumbling into their new homeland and trying to survive what happened one (!) generation ago. This small land — including Sinai and Jordan — has undergone alot of chopping in the last millenium and we would be wise to reevaluate the forces at work now. We who live here want peace, not war, with our neighbors. Our sons and daughters and husbands and brothers put their lives on the line fighting in the Israeli Defense Forces. Our yet-unborn grandchildren are in front of our eyes as we go to our democratic voting booth and choose leaders who vie with each other for the title ‘best peace-maker’.

Can they say that on the other side of the road?
