This is Not My Beautiful House
Kim France

I’m a sucker for houses and that red is similar to what I put on my living room wall (Prairie style condo in the midwest.) I could relate to what you said about not being able to decide what you want in your home but my husband and I have slowly been putting it together (over 3 years) The red wall with glass brick was a big part of it becoming our home.

I don’t think I’d want to live in a place designed by others. We need our books and music around us. We share an office but I’ve developed a nook/corner office to myself as well. There are some comfy places in our living room to settle in with a book. The bathtub is also a retreat. We cook together and eat takeout together. I go off to friends and writing retreats alone. Or bring friends in. He does less of that but we go out together.

Your parlor has one comfortable chair. That is telling.
