We live in our body.

A body with energies which are constantly colliding.

A tussle between our binaries.

Within us.

Is a commune of our masculine and feminine selves,

Opposites that entangle and yet entice one another.

Energies like galaxies,

forming a milky way of resistance and romance,

A powerplay of universal forces.

Their battle could burn us and leave us broken,

Yet once they co-exist to flow through us,

Our bodies encapsulate the cosmos.

{Note- I recently had the honor of documenting my sisters Capoeira class. Capoeira is a Brazilian art form which combines fight, dance, rhythm, and movement. Capoeira is a dialog between players — a conversation through movement which can take on many shades of meaning. Some historians claim that slaves used capoeira’s dance-like appearance as a way to hide their training of combat and self-defense.

This photo essay is my interpretation of it and has no factual correlation to the art form whatsoever.}
