6. Practise loss: I've been thinking that if small wins add up into a major big win, then dealing with small losses can possibly make dealing with a major loss a bit easier. You don’t have to deliberately lose people (they’re going to go someday by either chance or choice), but you can practise by losing small things that you identify yourself with — some childhood toy or your favourite book or dress or a gift from a loved one, a memory. It hurts because we’re emotionally attached to them for some reason. But losing small things is a strong reminder that you’re eventually going to lose everything and everyone you have right now. And it raises the value of time you spend with them right now.
